While travelling and therefore living without the strictures of a normal job, the day of the week rarely matters to us. Except that the rest of the world continues as normal and has colluded to designate two of the days as different to the rest of the week. On the weekend, various events occur that take advantage of this special designation, and places or people alter their schedule, sometimes ceasing operations entirely until Monday morning. In fact, we often find that large numbers of people travel to places on the weekend, despite the fact that they themselves might be travelling for much longer and could choose any other day of the week for their visit. Statistically it doesn't make sense to me. However, we tend to alter our behaviour accordingly and often find ourselves 'taking a break' on the weekend, unable to visit certain places that are closed and unwilling to visit others that are busy.
So, today we took the morning 'off' from travelling, while K entered a regular short story competition online after which we had lunch in the courtyard of our apartment. I attempted to prepare a kind of
ceviche de chochos, with fried banana, avocado and tofu.

Being the weekend, more people tend to visit the park, while others take advantage of the increased footfall and display their artwork at the northern end of El Ejido.

Having perused the art, we settled into the afternoon with coffee at Magic Bean and a slightly bland bock beer (Hades) at Abysmo.
