Curry puffs and cake for breakfast |
After a lunch of scrambled egg, left-over curry from yesterday, and fried choi sum, we were stuffed for the rest of the day, and lazed about unholistically.
This trend continued as we took advantage of Langkawi's duty-free status.
Our host had previously brought us to a Chinese supermarket that has many imported foods. Indulging our penchant for cheese, we bought a French Camembert, Irish Cheddar, and Danish blue cheese. The first two lacked much flavour but the blue was creamy and delicious.
Our host had also led us to the Aladdin's cave of the supermarket - a sealed-off room stacked floor to ceiling with imported wine. The lack of duty paid offsets the expense of importing and so many of the bottles were comparable to buying them in the UK. The exception to this was the clearance shelf, which saw bottles being given away for between 5 and 10RM (less than £2). We enjoyed the cheese with a 5RM Sicilian white.
